ABOUT THE ARTIST
Wendy Jean Smith is an innovative contemporary 3D mixed media artist! She brings her dreams and visions to life as she explores texture, colors and materials. She expressionistic style evolves as she layers to create depth and complex surfaces. She believes the Holy Spirit speaks prophetically through her art and that her talent is a gift from God!
I’m just a small town girl with a creative flair!” My life as an artist has been a journey with God at the forefront. My style evolved as I expressed my sorrow over the sudden loss of my cousin. I saw an image during prayer, and I wanted to create it. I went back to my roots as a teacher and added collage giving the image life.
Creativity and perseverance are my gifts! I am not afraid to be innovative! And if at first I do not succeed I do not throw it away I change it! Experimenting with materials and applications leads to avenues of discovery that I then add to my repertoire.
My 3D mixed media art comes to life as it jumps off the canvas with sculptural relief techniques! I am self taught with a few classes along the way to hon my talent.
